I realize this isn't what you had in mind, but here's my Buick pickup I've had since 1974:

In 1940 at the Fisher Body Plant in Flint, Michigan, Buick Engineering brass requisitioned four (4) x completed Roadmaster Coupe bodies.

They then took the bodies to the experimental shop within the plant where the magic may have happened.

Documentation isn’t available as VIN numbers weren’t common practice at the time and vehicles built by the experimental shop were destroyed when no longer useful.

The vehicles were never titled by Buick. The rumors say that this one was saved by a
Buick Engineering manager who hid it in a barn where it sat for over 30 years.

Of the four trucks built, three (3) were black and used for general hauling duties around the plant, and one was red. The red one was used by the plant fire department.

The truck shown is reported to be the last of the four (4) built and only one known to exist today.

It changed hands a few times with the first restoration being finished in 2008. It was shown and seen at cruises in the area before tragedy struck in 2009.

The building the truck was being stored in was destroyed by fire and the owner believed the truck was gone.

But quick thinking firemen pushed the truck out of the building and it was saved. It was also completely covered in melted roofing tar.

It was restored and shown again when the restoration of the restored truck was finished. As mentioned before, the pictures are of the vehicle in 2011 at a car show.

I'm a little shy about this car cause I've posted pics of it before. But it's the only hot rod and/or custom I got. Two wrecks put together, 53 front and 51 rear. Would look better without the rear doors, but they operate and down in there is where you put your tools and stuff.

Nuthin' to be bashful about. I think its a great car! You gotta go with what's available and I think you did great by getting it together and on the road.

"The truck on the intro to "The Beverly Hillbillys" was supposedly a 1920 Buick.

  27. So, I wasn't aware that Buick ever made a truck. I see most all of these are custom. If Buick did actually make factory trucks, what years were they made?

I don't know from what years they were made but I know for sure they were. Here are two 1929 Buick Trucks fd2901_large.jpg 011 #2-L.jpg
The link by @Ebbsspeed has some good info. The rich history of Buick is what drew me into being a Buick Guy. Before the GM merger they where the top dog. Many people think Chevy came 1st but it was Buick and thier racing team that got Louis Cheverolet going, and Willam Durant was the money. But I'm just a youngin' so who am I teach. I know many others on the board know way more than me.

Some cool stuff here. I wonder if anyone has put a 64 or 65 front clip and doors on an El Camino?
