Art & Inspiration Let's talk about Phantom cars & trucks

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Apr 20, 2022.

  1. Not to be confused with Phaeton's - 4 door topless cars.

The nature of, suggesting, or being a phantom : ILLUSORY , Relating to cars as being one off, nothing mass produced.

Just using the Rust Neinz Corsair for a visual. HRP

I think fellow Hamber Dave Mc's 1933 Ford C -400 Vicky convertible is a perfect example of a Phantom car. HRP

  7. I like building phantom type cars. Both of my O/T 68 Chevy's are done that way. They look factory stock, but I played around in the parts bin mixing and matching stuff that was never offered.

My pops has a 28 model a fourdoor and the wood is rotten as hell. I would love to get my hands on it and build a woody using the fourdoor cowl.

    It's not a Roadster, and it's not a Cabriolet.

    Phantom

I think it's been a while since I've heard that term, and forgot that's what we sometimes call conversions or specials.

    I like phantom hot rods.
    I like the creativity.
Danny, would a roadster built from a '26 Dodge four-door sedan be considered a phantom? :D

I like to change some things on everything I build. For example on the yellow model A roadster that my father and I built back in 1998, we put everything 32 in it that we could think of. 32 firewall, dash, windshield stanchions, windshield frame, cowl vent, headlights, frame, grille shell, rear wheel wells, and gas tank on stock parameter 32 frame. We shortened the back of the body so it would clear the 32 tank.

After making all these changes, it seems that most people don't notice anything different and probably assume its just another glass 32.

Not a big deal but back in the mid 80's I built a 40 deluxe pickup. Been done many times before me. Sadly I have no pictures left.
