I'm planning to build a surface frame table that will be used for jigging up and welding a production-quality run of fairly complicated tube chassis. I've searched and seen some nice frame tables and jigs, and this has convinced me that I need the flexibility of a surface table. I'd like to thread holes into a large (and unfortunately expensive) 1/2" or 5/8" plate based on where the numerous tubes will be, and locate tubes/pins of various lengths on the plate wherever needed. I'll buy a professional auto body shop measuring system to make sure everything is where I want it to be. What I need is, to see what ideas everyone has for clamping systems that I can attach to the pins mentioned above. I don't want C-clamps since the chassis will be 1.5" round tube. Any ideas? TIA! Hank
REID supply company had excellent clamps exactly for what you are doing. All different types and you can pre-set them so they're the same every time: https://reidecom.reidtool.com/xephr/edit/CATEGORY?query=*CATALOG_ID=RF118&query=*START_WITH_ID=3797 AND https://reidecom.reidtool.com/xephr/edit/CATEGORY?query=*CATALOG_ID=RF118&query=*START_WITH_ID=4430 Also try Carr Lane MFG CO. http://www.carrlane.com/
