yes but unfortunately with the last remodel all the photo links were broken as seen here: the 27 roadster saga
all photos are in my album here: 1927 T Roadster

DSC02418.JPG Zipper used a fiberglass A shell and cut it down. The radiator guard is a piece of polished stainless steel shaker screen.

I agree. I think 1 1/4" will put it better into perspective, but you'll have to play with it to see how it looks. It should be tapered toward the front.

Those support rods throw the eye for sure. His truck is indeed way cool!

One of my favorite builds on here! I've always tried to encourage people to post all of their photos here on HAMB, rather than hosting sites. Not that Photobucket or any of the others are "bad" it just that the links seem to break when we do a major update, bandwidth can be exceeded, accounts may be closed or cancelled, etc. Hosting the pics here makes sure that doesn't happen. Looking back through some of the ancient tech threads there will be photos missing and people asking for them to be restored 15 years ago! Bummer man.

Jeremy, glad you're taking our suggestions in a positive manner and know that it's not in ANY way a critique of your bitchin' pick-m-up! You know I love that sucker! Get that rad shell a little lower, tape it up like Larry did to get the right angles, then build a bracket to mount your support rods lower, maybe even below the top tank. Your truck's already a winner, just that little tweak will change it's whole attitude!

  5. Cheers Eric and I have loved the feed back and mostly the support from you guys on here. the shell will come down as much as I can without cutting the surround, that should be an inch.
When I redid the stay rods, that was to get them around the oil bath cleaner I always wanted. I got the back as high as I could but........wasn't right so I will also redo the mounts to the radiator. When I bought the car from photos only he said drop a motor n box in, slap on some wheels and you will be on the road in a week !!!! Yeah right !!!!
Thanks for the encouragement, I think its Bitchin too but you guys have it won with yours:cool: JW :)

  6. I suppose I'm odd,I prefer the T's with a T shell but I like Model A's with the original shell or with Deuce shells. HRP

  7. I only like T's on T's with Gow Jobs. 28-29s yes and 32s a close second, 30-31 no ! JW

  8. HRP, you're not alone. Chip "need louvers?" Doesn't like T's with A's either. (Or something like that.) He about came after me when I plotted out a '26-'27 on A rails with '28-'29 shell. Good thing we were on the phone!

which is why I used the HAMB as the photo host for all my pictures,
posting them to my albums and linking full size images to my threads, (I hate thumbnails)
'didn't think of systems changing would break the link.
I am sure it is a simple alteration in address line,
in the remodel pictures were transferred to new album,
host is still the same, picture name is the same, but slight difference in balance of text,
if Ryan doesn't find the cure, there are many in the same boat, I may go back and relink mine...

I've never liked the T shell. I have one on the wall in the garage that came with the car we're building for my wife. On that same token, I don't like deuce shells on T's at all. The only time I like a deuce shell on an A is if it has a deuce frame under it too. That's what makes my early Ford world go round. :D

Okay, I stand corrected. I do like T shells, but only on a Gow Job!

Chip doesn't like T&A? Does Miss Judy know? Personally, I think the T on an A chassis with A rails is a cool move!

I'd forgotten that the link to albums was a problem too. I just post to the thread then linked to the thumbnail. I fixed a few on my wife's T build thread but haven't gotten past page 1 to check other pages. I was just glad that all of the photos were still with each post! :D

  12. Ok, this where the stay rods will mount at the radiator end.The shell hasn't been lowered yet, but it IS coming down a bit. So how does it look at this stage guys? JW[IMG]

  14. Yup, that looks good. The shell drop will bring it all together. I dig the color!

Looks good, the rods could be dropped a little further if you wanted to by using a smaller air cleaner and some brackets. Dropping the shell should make a big difference. :)

Well, when I saw nitrobrother's post, I knew I'd get dragged in on this one somewhere down the line! Yup, he outed me! '28-'29 shells on ANYTHING other than a '28 or '29 is one of my major pet peeves ( of many, apparenty!). If ya go back through all the Don Montgomery books and other historic sources and look, you'll see it almost never happened. Everybody skipped to the chase and did the deuce shell thing. We didn't really start to see the '28-'29 stuff used until about 15 years ago as the rat rod era dawned it's ugly little head. Now, that said, someone will be able to produce a picture from say '48 that marks me as completely and totally wrong, that someone indeed DID run a cast off '28 shell on his "T"... Yup, I'm sure somebody did. I'm sure most of the "cool kids" snickered a bit at the drive ins, too.

That is not to say don't do it! That's MY opinion. I love '28-'29 shells, and '30s too - Just on the cars they came on. And, for the record, you do HAVE to drop a '28-'29 shell a bit if you do hang it on the front of a '27 type car... Hell, I dropped mine almost an inch on my fenderless '29 RPU! Just start with a grill shell, prop it up where it goes, take some tape and make an imaginary hood, step back 50' and trim until it looks good.... THEN and only THEN figure out a radiator. My .02.

As Chip says cut then figure out the rad, that's what I did. As far as skipping to the chase and doing a deuce shell goes, that's exactly why I don't want to go there. It's way overdone. :)

  18. I have an A radiator in the shell so there will be no chopping and the air cleaner is staying too as thats the look I want. I can and will drop the whole radiator and shell assembly as much as I can with its mounts, that should be around an inch which will make it about 3/4''below the top of the cowl. Cheers Guys. Looks good 26, just the relocated rods make it look "right" to me.

Lowering the front of those rods made a dramatic improvement! ;) Dropping the radiator just a touch will finish it off just right!

  22. Thanks Eric, I do want it to be right and have flowing lines. When its going and take it shows etc I will have the feeling the car look good in my minds eye. This is when I got it. JW :)

The tie rod is great, I had to mount the rad about 1/2" forward of where I thought it would be and having the tie rod there means I will be limited to an electric fan but that is a compromise I can live with.
