^^^ That maroon one looks like it was all done with springs, a dropped axle, and the proper rubber sizes. All else looks stock. And it's magnificent!

Headed out to our Oldies but Goodies Drags 'n Show this weekend (6/5-6/2021) at Firebird Raceway. Taking a trio of '40's out to celebrate 41st year of nostalgia happening here in western Idaho. IMG_20210408_200709.jpg

Hey that's my buddy Rich's old 40. He sold it to someone on the east coast about ten years ago. It had one of the nicest chops I have ever seen on a 40 coupe. The shaved and peaked hood came off of my 40 convert years ago. I was told that it was chopped in 1948 . It spent most of it's early life on the drag strip. I looked at it when the guy before Rich bought it and the floor pan still had the original pea green paint and looked like new. Here's a picture of it when Rich still owned it. 50921771_2328467057165413_3002180318837866496_n.jpeg

Gassing up mid-way to York, these guys pulled up. There were two more out of frame. I assumed they were going to Fords at Carlisle along with all the late model Mustangs on the Turnpike. IMG_7191.jpg

I have had 7 40 fords among tons of others for the last 56 years. got my 1st 40 when I was 13. I usually buid my own but I bought this 40 pickup a long time ago not for the color but because it was a western truck all of its life a high dollar build in the late 90s and a great driver. I ditched the chrome wheels and put on old school torque thrusts and changed valve covers air cleaner etc when I got it. was never happy with the new school flames so I just had the hood and front fenders painted to ditch the flames and going with red steelies and big whites as the purple coupe shows. 00W0W_ecbZCfYMzLc_1200x900fgrty.jpg Resized952019050895143451955091.jpg thumbnail_Resized95202006099514524095853.jpg thumbnail_Resized_Resized_20210601_150947.jpg thumbnail_Resized_Resized_20210601_151000.jpg 50519245_10215972153650298_9068523381908832256_n.jpg

Rick, the truck looks better without the flames. I kinda prefer the 5 spokes but the red steelies will look good too. Nice truck.
