Friend of mine who summers on the lake in Ontario sent me this sweet tudor from a local cruise night up there

 

Got mine all dressed for the next road trip...
Headed to Shades of The Past Wednesday am, last there over 15 years ago.

 

The ‘40 Ford of Tony Miller is channeled, sectioned and has a Mercury style grill, but the most ambitious modification was building this convertible from what was once a coupe. Goodguys West Coast Nationals, Pleasanton, Ca.

 

That's the way they should have been built! Absolutely gorgeous.^^^^^^^^^

Chrismer may have the " most days in a 40 covered" but you surely have the " most miles in a 40" covered. I enjoyed riding to the Follies in my friends 39 but sure missed driving my 40.

 

I'm at 212 days in a '40, so far this year, Joe. I have no idea how many miles, as my odometer quit working back in 1995, but I hope to have that remedied in a few weeks. Just as an FYI, a trip to work and back is about 100 miles for me.

 

No kidding......That's just crazy. At least you make it interesting by driving your 40's!

Congrats Tony! Are you still planning to be in Walla Walla this weekend? I am getting my coupe ready for the trip to Walla Walla so we can see that convertible of yours. Its only about 180 miles for me.

Well I hope you show up for the cruise before dinner as it is usually dusk by the time we get back for the dinner. I want to see your car in the daylight. If you see an overly enthused guy looking at every little detail of your car taking too many pictures it will probably be the 39 guy.......

 

Well I guess Dave has settled that. Chrismer may indeed be numero uno in each.

 

Damn, guess I'll choose retirement over being mileage king.

 

Honestly, I haven't been tracking to compete with anybody, just as a personal goal to get more "hot rod wheel time" for 2017. It's been a blast, so far.

I took the coupe down to the shop to try to swap out the oil pan gasket in the truck to slow the oil leaks that the 283 has. Drove the truck home, and it still seems to be blowing oil out, so I expect to park the truck for a while and pull the motor back out after the St Louis Hot Rod Hundred. At that time, I'll probably put a different timing cover and pan on it, and also change out the rear main seal, unless I find a killer deal on a fairly fresh SBC somewhere.
