To everyone who says changing the back window takes away the Victoria look, isn't that the goal of customizing a car? To make it look different from a stock production car?
Custom cars are traditional, and this is an impressive custom that is being built whether you like it or not! You should probably avoid this thread if you can't appreciate something that isn't what you think it should look like!
There are about 5 newer era customs on the HAMB that I would call masterpieces. Don and Tony have conspired to build TWO of them. Keep up the good work guys. These toddlers can keep discussing patina and four door shitboxes.(TM @Germ )
Just to summarize: Car was posted to a public site People commented on things they like and also things they would have done differently. Just like EVERY OTHER BUILD. Owner got a little defensive (Just the way your posts came across to me) Enter the we got your back guys Then enter the "back in our day" guys More we got your back and lets insult others while at it guys In the end; your car do what you want but people will share their thoughts. Just ask anyone who dares bag their own vehicle.
To make my statement more clear. . It takes BIG BALLS to customize a car. You are doing a great job. People love bashing what other people do. This is a traditional build. The more traditional the better.
Every vehicle that I have seen with Tony Millers name as owner has been top notch. He has the eye for this stuff. I believe that accounts for how he earned a living. Can’t wait to see the finished custom.
This whole thread is kinda weird to me. If you like what we're doing to my car, great. Thanks very much. If you don't like what we're doing, that's fine too, but we really don't have anything to talk about. Go find a different thread.
Gee Tony, it sure looks like you picked the wrong people to work with. Who knew? I guess we do now. @John Lee Williamson, just what exactly would you like 50 Fraud to do with this advice and wisdom you are now gracing us with? Start over? Burn his car? Walk backwards to New York as penance? Come on man.
I'm digging it, I had a look at a victoria project a couple of years ago over here. It had rust issues in the roof and the first thing I thought was to get rid of the clunky wrap around gutter and all the extra JC penney type trim and get some 49 sheet metal for the front. Love what you're doing.
I did. It appears to be a stock window from a later Victoria, like a '54. I think it looks good, but it's not what I wanted for my car.
This may be the time to ask, was there ever a Hamb Build on your '40? . Maybe "Build" is the wrong word, "Correction" is more in line, since Henry should have built all of his to look like yours. Bob

Can't wait for the next Pile O Pics and explanation of the Customization processes underway... Keep on Keepen On...
Yes, Don posted an extraordinary build thread for more than half the duration of the build. It ran for 5 1/2 years, had nearly 1000 posts, and can be found at the address that Stogy listed above.
How in the world did I miss this build while it was underway? It is three in the morning here on the East Coast, what a great inspirational read, thanks to everyone evolved. Bob
In my opinion, Don's build threads are comparable in quality to his design sense and his craftsmanship. He's kind of a Renaissance hot rod builder.
I’m still amazed how nice it is turning out. I know it’s a lot of work but the way it’s being done looks so simple. Beautiful. Awesome craftsmanship.
I actually did think about it when my focus was on fooling people with its 1950ism. I rejected the idea immediately, though.
I can't find either of Stanlow's posts showing other Victorias. I presume that he's deleted them; don't know why.
Best chop Ive seen in a long time... Thanks for not doing the pumpkin spice rear window clip that everyone does..
