I've seen Model A's and 32's with the hood tops installed and are held down with leather straps and some funny looking springs on each side. Does anyone know who makes these or where they are available? Is it a kit?
    Thanks

  11. Thanks Hdonlybob. It was great getting to meet you and Jim ( MAXGEARHEAD ) Sunday at the Hwy 61 Cruise In, anyway back to the question, I always try to make stuff if I can. Four 24 inch long 2 inch wide pieces of leather from the local leather guy and some copper rod and 8 springs from ACE hardware, 8 marine stainless hold down anchors and your in. Under $50.00 total. I don't have any in progress pics but here they are done, best part is they are " one of a kind ". The little medallion looking things that fasten the straps together are 8 snowmobile cleats I had in my tool box. That's why I never throw anything out, you just never know.....

Oldschool66, Thanks for posting your solution. I also like the "do it yourself" route. However, Hoff 22 here on the HAMB does awesome leather work for a very reasonable price.

I know this is an old thread, but how do you unstrap your homemade strap here? Do you unsnap it at the snowmobile cleats? Thanks

  15. No, I made some aluminum pieces that are bent past 90 degrees that hook into the cleats that are attached to the hood rails at the bottom, just pull the strap and unhook it at the cleat done in new paint 012.jpg pics 076.jpg

  16. X2 on Restoration Supply - great service, great parts, stuff to solve problems that seem insoluble, I use them for some of the ground up restoration work (parts) I seem to have in the shop.
