late sbc in 55 Chevy pickup

I bought a trifive Chevy pickup without engine & transmission and didn't think about the motor mounts being located on the front on the first gen v8s and I want to keep the straight axle. Whats the lo buck route to use later sbc ?

 

Simple, buy available swap mounts or just use the 55-57 style front mounts which bolt right up to all the Chevy V8s into 90s.

 

I would buy ( or make ) a crossmember like this. Speedway out of Lincoln Neb. sells them for less than $50.
