Moriarity - I absolutely love these b&w shots of early customs. Most of them I've never seen before (the cars, not just those particular pics). The only thing that would make them better would be to see those cars in full Kodachrome color!

Keep it up! This will be my go-to source when I begin seriously planning my own late-fifties / early-sixties custom.

I would have been about 14 years old at the time. The asymmetrical styling was just starting to come into vouge at that time. It was either blue or purple if I remember correctly.

  8. "Crystal Green" according to the link at Kustomrama, sounds like that was the color on both versions.

Blue / Green, I was close.lol. made an impression on my younger self.
    Does it still exist?
OK. Read the Kustomrama article and the version I remember was the chrome split rear bumpers. Not a fan of the front end on the later version.

  15. G V, I looked but couldn't come up with anything else on it.

The rear was the same through both versions, only the front clip was changed after the Sept. '64 R&C feature.
Funny quote from the guy who owned it '68 to '70/71:
I bought it sight unseen, dad drove it to Hutchinson where we lived. The split manifold would rattle the windows, and I rattled a lot of them. I had to sell it to go to school. It was not easy to drive on the highway and the front lights were for looks only, you couldn't see at night more than 20 feet."

You're right, they looked moulded in and painted at first glance in the original picture.

  17. Do you know the new owners plans for it? I'm sure you sold it to someone that was going to take care of it.
