Wow the emperor of Japan was into custom cars?
This is Ted Leventhal's recreation of the car he had built for him in 1955!
Hence the name "the LAST HURA".
The Mel Pinoli paint job on the original car (below) is widely held to be the first ever Candy paint job!
(Bailon is famous for his Candy Apple Red.)
corrected spelling, spell check changed it, I did't catch it.
Looks like the original may have been more olive green, or it could just be discoloration of the old magazine image.
You should probably check his first name spelling as well.
I LOVE this car! All too often, custom car builders incorporate change for the sake of change and the resultant styling can clash when it's a mashup of styles that don't work well together. This is an amazing blend of harmonious lines that enhance the original design. For a late model, IMHO it doesn't get any better than this. Any more shots (of the rear) and info?
