^^^^ Go back and look at the spot lights on the 56.

  12. Love the old show photos! Cloth in the windows to hide the unfinished interior is cool, I have seen photos of this done with foil as well. But check out how they molded the fenders around the spotlights.

Though not a 'Kustom", per se, I always dug the Grist Bros. coupe for its unique and beautiful custom bodywork.
The top was not lengthened during the chop process, but rather the body was shortened, using (shorter) sedan doors.
(Probably not legal for a Gasser as per most rule-books, but I never heard of any complaints. ;))

During the famed "Gasser Wars", Gasser teams were the stars of drag racing, and looking good was important.
Check out the beautiful Eddie Martinez interior in the famed SWC Willys. Incredibly, it is still in the car to this day!!!

And while I'm at it, another fine example of custom bodywork on a Gasser is Big John Mazmanian's Austin.
What may appear to be a fiberglass body was Gennie steel, chopped and painted candy red (as were many of Mazmanian's cars) by none other than Gil Ayala! Dig the rake on the windshield, and the perfect radius of the rear fender,

Wowzer !! I almost want to copy those tail lights on mine , looks like they’re just shortened and flipped upside down

  24. @Knghtcadi Are they shortened? Are the tail light and back-up light bezels seperate?
I wonder if they just used the back-up light bezels?

15247075342291738517959.jpg I started reading this thread from the beginning (made it to page 90 so far!) and noticed that I commented a lot but never added any photos. Also see a lot of the same cars. So...St Louis Zoo Easter car show 2002:
