Yesterday we lost one hell of an artist! He had a brief battle with lung cancer. Sonny could do it all , paint, stripe, air brush. And do it with style. He worked along side Ed Big Daddy Roth, and had his permission to paint the Rat Fink wherever and whenever he wanted .

I was lucky enough to know Sonny most of my life and call him a friend. He was also a member of the Salvagerz with his killer blown '55 Chevy. He will be terribly missed by all of us!

  13. I'm sad... He will be missed here in Florida greatly...BPFL won't be the same without him set up in the corner with the coolest stuff on this and many other planets.

  16. This is from AIR brush action Magazine, April 2003. It's the only airbrush mag I ever bought because of Sonny's art. The last image is a quote from Sonny about Roth. RIP Sonny.

I first met Sonny about 15 years ago at a model contest in West Palm, and was blown away by the work he had on display. I was proud to show him my own work, and about a year later contacted him and he remembered every detail of that encounter! We hit it off and have remained in contact ever since, getting to see each other at Billetproof, Rats Hole Chopper Show, Daytona, etc; He has been a great mentor to me, always encouraging my work and pushing me to the next level with my work.

He was an ambassador of Kustom Kulture. I shared a space with him at Billetproof a few years ago, and watched him endlessly shake hands, pose for photos, and personally thank every person that came up to that table for stopping by.

I don't think anyone will ever match the level of detail he achieved in his work. I'd look at some of his work over and over, and every time I'd see some tiny detail I had missed. Just incredible.

He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all of us who were lucky enough to call friend. I feel privledged to have gotten to know him, and his influence will stay with me until I'm done here as well. Thanks Sonny Boy. I hope your up there with Roth stripin' the pearly metalflake gates!
