How about some local cars from the Bright Built shop here in Salina. Keith Bright is the owner and is a Good Guys rep.

I loved this simple Model A with attitude from KC. I think it is the guy who puts on the Greaserama but not sure. He ran it in the drags with it's stock 4 banger. I gave him an "E" for effort.

My buddy Cal who is carkiller on the Hamb lived up to his name as he killed the tranny in his car as he unloaded it from his car trailer. Really has a strong running engine. Too bad he didn't get to run in the drags.

More of a street rod here but my buddy Jon from Salina built this steel bodied convertible himself in his garage. The heavily modified hood has been sectioned, nosed and peaked. He painted the car at home himself, stitched his own leather interior from surplus aircraft LearJet hides, and even sewed his own convertible top. He is a top talent and I was happy to take these photos of his 39 Ford.

Here is my buddy Eldon from Salina who suffers badly from Parkinson's disease. He has trouble walking and uses crutches or canes. But boy can he drive. He and his Camaro went thru the paces at the drags time after time. I had fun yelling at him to "give 'em hell!" He said he felt like a kid again. You go Eldon!

  13. A note about the Edsel Ranchero. Most of us have seen one sometime or another. Most just have the front sheet metal bolted on. This has the tail lights and the dash also. There was alot of work in changing dashes. The pic I posted of the McCulloch supercharger was a factory option on a Kaiser Frazier. First time I saw one of those.

  19. The Edsel Ranchero belongs to Floyd Dutton in OKC. He is the president of the Heartland Chapter of Christian Rods and Customs. He is currently building a chopped Edsel stationwagon to go with the Ranchero. He is an old time bodyman and does all of his own work.

I could hardly believe the number of great historical, new builds, and the variety of killer rides and people at this event. Omaha had a strong showing, and it was great seeing all the other Nebraska support. And all the ICONS and new legends to be. Having El Jeffe, John Joyo, and all the Austin gang was really cool, the Austin Speed shop 55, El Jeffes Merc., Jimmie Vaughns 54, blew me away. Our fave H.A.M.B. babes Denise and Megan sparkled up the gig as always. The Fri. nite drags were also super, it was like the best street racing, that was legal!! So hats of to the K.K.O.A. crew and the City of Salina, it was all a tremendous time!! Salute!!-A great showing of H.A.M.B. troops as well--Sololobo

Mac, that thing was cuter than Hell. One of my buddies thinks they were a kit sold my Montgomery Ward or somebody. I just assumed it was British or homebuilt. He claims Easy Jack's Salvage Yard in Junction City Kansas has 2 of them. Never did find the owner of this car to ask him. Maybe someone else will chime in here with more info.

The 60's show car in bare metal looks mighty interesting...anyone know more about this thing?

New build, or re-build of an old one?
