One of my club members pulled a 265 from his 55 Chev, so I had planned on that with a 5 speed manual box probably.

Today was a bit on the quiet side. Not because of hangovers or anything like that. The family all sat up to see in the new year. I can never seem to sleep past 6am, but was able to make it to 8am today. Spent some time in the shop then decided to mow the lawn since it was dry and I am back to work tomorrow. The family all rose about 11am!! Then I took the boss to the supermarket, since she still not allowed to drive after Hip replacement.

I did cut some crush tubes for the IFS, for when I do find one!

Things will be a bit quiet on here for a few days while I am at work......but stay tuned!

I took the roadster to work yesterday, Stinkin hot day and perfect roadster weather! My boy is coming with me today, we going hunting for a front end. Got a lead on a guy with a couple of Jags floating around his place. Wish us luck!

Mercury and I went for a run today around the coast to visit a guy with a couple of jags on his lawn. We took the roadster and he was fizzing about that so I think we may be in luck. We swapped numbers and he promised to call, I will give him a few days then call and tell him we are on our way out with tools to remove it for him!

  10. The Jag setups are going to look good. Love stance/look you are aiming for! How are you going to do the IFS, welded or rubber mount? Keeping the cage on the IRS?

I'm looking forward to our "stinkin hot days" here, it's in the negatives today and going to get colder!

    Great job, subscribed.

Going to rubber insulate from the chassis with 1/4" rubber between the chassis and X member, also under the oversize thick washers under the fastening. Keeping most of the cage, it can't be seen under the car and I don't want to spend forever re-inventing the wheel on this project.

  12. Its a shame you didnt have another week off. At this pace, your'd be driving it by the end of next week :)

Not much chance of that now. I have two extra nights at work this week to look forward to! That will only give me one day off, before returning for another week of it!!!! That day of is booked for our alternative Xmas doo with the other half of the family!

PLenty of time for that when you are dead eh Clive!

Not too slowly mate! Always plan for a quick build, even the quick ones take too long. Plan for a slow one and they will never finish!

Sorted some molasses. 84 cents a kilogram. That will be under a hundred for the whole pod.

Got a call today from the guy that has the Jag front end. He has pulled it from the car and I can go and pick it up this week. My son is on camp this week and then I am away for two weeks. So there should be some progress soon after.

I took it straight home and slotted it into place. Looks like it was born to fit. Some trimming of excess fat to come.

  21. Very nice and should be a nice riding car, hope the seller has deducted the price of the wheel alignment ? LOL.

  22. Just picked up a cheap front and rear Jag set.
Has a Chevy Nova thrown in with it.
But I see you have a front end now.

Yesterday, after spending the morning in town in the roadster, I picked up some wheels from a mate to put onto the front suspension, Hopefully I will get them on before I go on my road-trip on monday (in the roadster).

1392628370197.jpg 1392628389274.jpg 1392628409903.jpg Back from my road trip in the roadster and straight back into things.

I marked up all of the extraneous superfluous brackets to be trimmed, then grabbed some threaded bar from town to ease off the tension on the springs. The second picture of the spring is when the tension finally was fully released, so 6" lengths of threaded bar was just right.

The front end was from a V12 XJS so the springs are a little overrated to say the least. I will keep my eyes peeled for some XJ6 ones to take their place. Until then a strut set at ride height will do.
I trimmed off the brackets after dinner tonight and will tidy it all up with the grinder in the morning and post a couple more shots of it looking pretty! I am planning to get it fitted and more trimming done before going back to the paid employment on Wednesday.

Nearly 2500kms on the roadster. Never prime under black paint with white paint! Stone chips all over the suspension parts!

Trimmed off the fat, cut in the mount plate and made all the gussets to brace it all nicely. Ready to weld next week.

1393201366596.jpg 1393201390218.jpg I reset the shop today. I wanted to put the chassis on the bench to remedy some issues. I first had to clear off the bench of all the club detritus. Yesterday I grabbed some plywood to put some floor onto the mezanine, so now the club stuff is up out of the way for now. My sparky turned up to fix the chain hoist so I could lift the chassis on to the bench.
Off to bed now, before work tonight.
