I never knew their hoods open up like that. What are your plans for the car? I really like those old Rancheros. Later Josh

How is it other than the floors?

  4. Rockers, floors, under the tailgate, rear quarters behind the doors are always rotten on 57-9 Rancheros. If the floors and rockers are the only trouble, you did well.

That front clip looks nice and solid. That's $1500 right there so I hope you traded well.

And throw all those exhaust manifolds in that pile in there before you take it.

Yea, all the late 50's fords hoods open in reverse. I think it all had to do with Fords thing about safety they were pushing back then.

Plans will be a frame off, but keeping it simple, complete subtle 50's style, but will have full air ride, and and few trick suspension ideas ( I do custom airride for a living everyday ).

As for the rest of it it seems fairly solid. The front end was replaced w/a rust free one, and there will have to be a few patch panels here, and there, but not too bad.

  6. I love these trucks, I have had one for a lot of years. To bad you are not closer I have a bunch of spare parts. Anyways cool trade,

I stripped a roller 47 club coupe body down to bare metal, and primed it.

Looks good to me. They really are getting hard to find. Not many left
from what I've seem out here. I recently re did mine. You can get the floors
and the four pieces around the perimiter of the bed floor also. Lotsa work
but worth it to me. I've had many. This one for 35 yrs
    Good Luck,
    Ron

Up here in the rust belt, I think most guys would give up their left gonad for one that nice. Good score.

  14. Congrats on the find, I have a 57 with 61 T bird 390 in it , but like all 57-59s the floor isn't in to good of shape. The cab floor is rusted out but the doors& fenders and the floor of the bed are good. Never had time to get it running.

  16. Take some soapy water and a couple of those copper pot scrubbers to the chrome wheels. You'll be amazed at the improvement. Put some wax on them after that.
