What trucks and/or cars came with 16" wheels that had 5x5.5" bolt patterns, and were 5" wide or more? Kind of a funky combo, so I'm not sure where to start looking...

I researched this a few months back and most info I gathered was 50's ford pickups only for steel little center cap 16 inch wheels that are wider than 4 1/2 inches. 40-48 cars were 4 or 4 1/2 by 16. I found all kinds of wide 15's but the 16's are tough to find. There is a pair of old 16 by 6 with 5 1/2 circle on ebay now and they are allready up to $75. Must be a hard wheel to find anywhere. If someone knows any other donors I would like to know too Steve

I know Jeeps and some International trucks came with 5 on 5.5 with a 16 inch dia. wheel. The problem you run into is that the center hole of the Jeeps is MUCH too large. I don't know what the center dia is.

I'd look at non-US truck wheels.

    F1/F100 48-67 without outer ring are 16 x 4 1/2 to 5, also inner hub cap knobs. The 16 was a HD option after 53 I believe.

    53-68 Jeep CJ3 & CJ5 are 16 x 5
    50-66 Military Jeep are 16 x 4.5, 5 and 5.5

    Jeep J Series truck 63-8 are 16 x 6

This is a Hollanders list of larger 16" 5 on 5.5 wheels. It doesnt get into hub sizes

Take a look towards the mid to late 80's ford vans and trucks. Those will usually be 5 on 5-1/2...
On a side note, I picked up a pair of 16" 5 on 5-1/2 rims on my way home last night. Someone had put them out for trash and they are in perfect condition. [IMG] Oh well, another set of rims for me [IMG]...for free [IMG]
Below is a list of 5 on 5-1/2 rims:

American Motors All 5 lug Jeep, All 2WD (Except 79-85 Eagle, Cherokee, Cherokee Chief) 1942-86
    Chrysler 8 cyl. & wagon 1946-55
    Chrysler Imperial (Special HD) 1954-66
Ford All (Except with Wide 5 pattern) 1928-48
Ford Full size pickup & Vans 1949-96
    International Scout, TravelAll
    Mercury All 1939-51
    Lincoln All 1952-60
    Suzuki Samurai 1986-89

    Hope it helps.
