Any Hambers going? I saw Ron last year in his '54? from a distance other than that I met up with AV8Jon. Don't think AV8Jon will be there this year as he sold his roadster and bought a sailboat.

How 'bout a meet and greet in front of registration on Saturday @ 1:00pm. I'll be sure and wear my HAMB shirt so you can find me. 150#'s, red hair, 5'9" tall.

I'll be there, still deciding on both shows or just JDR.

  9. Any info in it...when/where/etc?

    Thanks...

  10. I'll be at both shows, most likely to bounce back and forth during the day. I'll keep looking for the meeting spot.

Is the JDRun and the DTail Run 2 different shows? What years are they open to? Is there a swap meet at either shows? Thanks

  12. Yep 2 different shows. JDR is in Fairmont IN and Ducktail is in Gas City IN. JDR allows cars up to 1970 and DT is up to 72 I think. Since I can't get the wifes car into JDR I'll spend most of my time at DT. Hopefully next year I'll drive my coupe. Dates are 9/21-9/24. Swap meet at both, the ducktail has a better/bigger swap area.

Just to add to WildWillys68's post, entry fees are like $20 for each show so you get alot people going to and from.

The big swapmeet in Indiana is this weekend, Marion County Fairgrounds.

  15. Our club hosts the Dean Run in Fairmount. I do the swap meet and vendor registration in the back of the park.

There is a realy nice shelter house (in case of rain, which it aleays does sometime over the weekend). This would be a great place for the meet and greet on Saturday. It is not nearly as crowded as anything close to the registration tent.

Just look for the shelter next to the swap meet and between the two ball diamonds. We'll be the ones at the white crew cab dually w/ the aqua and peach scallops (I know, Miami Vice) hitched to the white enclosed car trailer.

Again, let me know what you think about a meet and greet there. I'll have some drinks if someone wants to bring cookies? Or, maybe I can talk the Mrs. into baking some....

Crap... I think I'm going to be in Chicago next weekend. :(

I've always wondered though - how the heck (and why) do y'all have the two shows the same weekend? They both seem pretty well attended... and enjoyable!

Both shows are only about 13 miles apart and many people cruise between the 2 shows all weekend. I usually only attend the Dean show.

Large shelter between the 2 ball diamonds sounds good to me for the meet and greet. What say? 1:00pm on Saturday!

I'll be at the Marion County fairgrounds this Thursday September 14 and Saturday September 16th. I'll be the guy with the beard, ponytail and a green ball cap that says US Army retired. So,if you see me and want to say "Hi" "do it". I'm also going to the Ducktail swap meet. I took my "T" bucket to James Dean last year .I didn't have a very nice time . Too muddy and the guy who was parked next to me wasn't much of a talker. I like to talk to people about their cars and get some ideas for mine. Maybe I'll go back to James Dean next year?

  19. Mother nature was not kind last year. Both places wound up being very muddy in places.
The James Dean swap spaces are the cheapest around. $25.00 a piece for a full 25 X 15 space. Compare before you make your final desicion.

  20. the way it was explained to me was, there where 3 guys that put on the rebel run in marion, in. they got in a pissing contest and split up. all three started their own shows on the same weekend. the first year i went was the last year for the rebel run in marion. the next year they moved it to ohio on a different weakend. i went to the rebel run that first year i went and i don't think there more than 30 or 40 cars. it's a great weekend, with lots of nighttime cruising at the ducktail. except for those fucking popping flamethrowers.

I will be there never miss them. As for the meeting place someone should make it clear which show Gas City or Fairmount, but I never seem to make the meetings anyway.

  25. The Meet and Greet that Blown 49 and I were discussing earlier in this thread was for "The James Dean Run" held at Play Acres Park in Fairmount, Indiana.

We discussed doing this on Saturday September 23rd at 1:00pm at the shelter in the south end of the park near the swap meet.

Under this shelter are plenty of picnic tables for either shade from the sun or a roof over your head if it rains.

If this is where you all want to have it, I'll make sure there is even a nice aluminum bleacher available for seating as well.

  26. Looking forward to having the Krylon car back together for this trip. Not sure what day were going yet, but we'll be there.

Sounds like we're set for the Dean Run near the ball diamonds, at 1:00pm on Saturday, Sep. 23, 2006.

This is not to say that a meet and greet couldn't also be made up for the Duck Tail group.
