Jeff, nice pics. Thats coming across the Susquehanna Bridge, not trying to get blown across three lanes, white knuckling it. Had a great time. This show is everything everybody says it is. What a blast.
Following Sawzal's Woodie up the Turnpike was a blast. That was the Coupe's longest trip to date and the worst part was the squirrely drive across the windy Susquehanna River bridge. Had a great day and talked to a bunch of people. I ended up being parked by a '50 Chevy owned by a guy who lives about 15 minutes from me. Perfect weather and it looked like record attendance with cars overflowing to the outside of the track. On the trip home, I hit a bump on the TP and the engine went dead. A guy in a Silverado from NJ with an empty car trailer pulled over to help while I was still coasting in the shoulder. I'm thinking, this is too good to be true. Turns out, he was at the Showdown, but left his car in Central PA for another show. The coil wire had shaken loose, so it was a quick fix. He ended up following me a good part of the way after that, so it was like I had instant road service. Fred, if you're on the HAMB, thanks for your help. I'll be looking for you in August at the Radir Hot Rod Party. Like everyone else has said, a big thanks to Scary Larry and the rest for making this cool event.
Like I said , it was a great time at the Showdown (my first) . I finally got 'round to uploading my pics (only about 240 of 'em) - you can view them below : CLICK ME NOW ! I was having some issues with the "drive" function on my camera , so my sequential-shooting plan for the track runs didn't work out , but yea well - still a buncha pics . Here are some teasers : Flamin' Dick's shoebox : Jerry gettin' ready to get dirty : Spike's ride : Maiden voyage :
And of course , a few engine shot teasers : This one caught my eye as different (and familiar to me) :
Larry............... Thanks a ton! This show seems to double in size each year. We had a great time seeing a bunch of Hamb folks. The Swap Meet was the best ever. We will be up friday next year. Thanks to everyone that made a purchase. See you next year!!! Jay
