  1. Great story! Old cars are supposed to be fun!

  2. On the wheels, I think chrome reverse is a good choice for almost any early 60s car. Kind of a hot rod influence though. To me this car would look really good with some Astro Supremes, with skinny whites of course to compliment the white top.

  3. I agree 100%. Not in The budget for new wheels right now! Working with what I got or can get cheap!

  4. Ok, so digging through the wheel inventory I have two chrome reverse, two keystones that are no good, lots of steel wheels, factory Chrysler ralley wheels and I know where there are two five spoke E/Ts and a full set of the E/T wheels that @koolkat and @squirrel identified for me on the “help me identify wheels” thread. Not sure what to do here...

It'd be interesting to see if moose could photoshop those E.T. wheels onto the car. Or some freshly paint black steel wheels with center caps?

Wonder how it would look with the wheel paint white like the top, or body color, with the covers?

They do look good with steelies and wheelcovers.
I have tt on my car at the moment and had slotmags before.
Have photos of both if you want.
I did like the mags better couse they shined a bit more.
But the tires was wrong size for the car.
The tt:s looks a bit dull in the huge wheelwells.

I saw a Rim or Cover on a 64ish Pontiac id'd as Turbine Rims...Did Chryslers/Dodge have something similar as I thought those might look really sharp on this new acquisition albiet perhaps pricey.

  15. I actually wish the factory wheel covers weren’t so bad. I would happily run them. My problem is I polished aluminum for a living for years so I like stuff I can make shiny!!

I would welcome pictures here of what you have had on your car!

    Stogy, those are cool!

  18. The engine has been spray bombed red. The car has been painted and has a few spots of amateurish bodywork but next to no rust.

Very cool. My first car was a '64 Newport and I tried to restore another '64 Newport convertible in my youth, but didn't get very far and ended up letting it go.

Hope you have a hub puller for those tapered axles. I remember getting the rear drums off are a pain. If you do the trans fluid drain and new filter, there is a newer Chrysler part (2464324AC) for a gasket that works on a 727 and will not leak like the regular old gaskets. I used a similar one on a '64 904 automatic and it was amazing, no leaks at all.

  20. I do have a puller however I also have a later c body 8 3/4 that may find its way into the car, but then how often do the drums really need to come off?

The front are 59 dodge the rear is unknown to me year Plymouth. I already know which one I like, curious what you guys think.

  28. I'm fairly certain that the rear cover in this shot is from a '64 Plymouth, possibly a Fury-only item. Around the center emblem, is there a sort of reflective, red, plastic ring? Or maybe it was a red anodized accent or something similar. Other than the Plymouth emblem, those wouldn't be the worse looking wheel covers on your Chrysler. And I don't imagine they'd be impossible to find or too terribly expensive. Especially if you can pick them up one or two at a time.

  29. They do have a red ring in the center, I have five of them already as well as four of the 59 dodge ones, I like the aluminum slots I just haven’t found a set yet...
