Technical is this hood latch from a 1953 or 54 Chevrolet? or ???

not sure where this came from. I parted out a 53 many moons ago, but that didn't have a grill or anything so I think it may be from something else. I had bits of a early 50's Buick grille here for a while, so it could be a part from that.

I want to figure out what it is and find a new home for it.

Not from a 54. The 54 latch mounts to the top "bar" of the grill. Don't know about 53's as the grills are different.

 

latch looks the same as the pic, what about the other part?

 

Not Buick - they still opened sideways.

 

buick roadmaster and super sideways thru '52.

i had a '54 chev for a while. i don't remember the type of hood latch.

 

That part may be from a 53? ,i don't know . On a 54 the latch mounts to the actual chrome top bar of grill.
