    I got these 60's clip on mirrors from an auction site. Anybody remember these? Are these what they considered "gook" accessory? I like them personally and I'm a gook so if they are oh well.

    I knew there was going to be an Asian joke in this post.

    They look Okay, but I wouldn't keep 'em after paint. Too close, but not close enough to the angles of the headers.

    I like 'em, but I'd have them high up on the doors angled down

    So-Cal Speedshop in Phoenix carries these and a smaller, curved arm "peep" mirror. I got the smaller one for my Tempest and mounted it high on the rain-rail when my side mirror got knocked off in traffic! (Yes, the asshole DID get that close and he was going that fast!)

    They look cool to me. If you want that timeless gook look maybe you can get a reflector to put on the front of them, and maybe a little antenna or two sticking off the front, oh, and don't forget the little mini sun visor on the back of the mirror head! LOL

    well, being they're on YOUR car i guess they are!:D hey you opened the door!

    all kidding aside, cars need mirrors, card DON'T need gook: fender markers, extra chrome junk, reflectorized mudflaps, etc.

    and for those new guys who don't know what gook is in car speak, i just described it, pointless acessories added on just because. it has nothing to do with race.

    oh, and i think the mirrors are cool.

    They're adjustable, I actually had them close to the angles of the headers but they were too low to see on the passenger side. Drivers side, no problem. I had them up high on the door but the bullet and pointy angle in the back hit the rain gutter so that didn't work.

    they arent working for you because they are round--mabey if they were more "almond shaped" it would be easier...:D

    I like 'em. they "fit the mood" of the car.

    bring 'em with you next week--I just had a killer idea!

  11. Definitely and they look horrible on your(great looking)car.I'll PM you and you can send them out immediately:D. Seriously,I have a smaller set on my Safari and they work great. The only complaint I have is I bump into them when I'm walking by the car in the garage and they loosen up.

    Hi:
    Run anything YOU want it's YOUR car, no one else is paying the bill's. I hate it when tell you what is "CORRECT" for your car.
    ENJOY:) :)

  17. I think they go great with your car.

    Bottom line - "Do you like them?"

    That's all that really counts.

    Unscrew the nice part of the arm where it fastens to the cheesy strap/clamp that clamps around the door edge, (if it's not just riveted) drill a hole in the door skin and bolt it directly to the door nice and clean like.:cool:

    Not gook unless you also have a visor, a plastic winged swan hood ornament, and bumper guard protectors on the bumper guards. :rolleyes:

    i'm a gook and i've never seen that on any gook cars.

    it's a nice looking mirror but maybe it would be better hung from the top of the window rather than on the body.

    Do as DrJ did and have that bent arm follow the rain gutters on top?

    But then again, I know jack about kustoms.

    I like your paint texture though, looks sexy :cool:
    I like your car even more, been drooling over it the past couple days. :)

    Gotcha Dr J, I wanted to see what they look like on the car first before I drill into the door. Thanks for the idea.

    Yup.

    It needs to be attached further back in the door. Without the cheesy jamb attachment.

    Man that's gonna look good. I haven't seen any others like those. Good pull.

  25. those are bitchin' mirrors!! I thought someone would mention that GOOK was a car term term long before some WW2 miltary applied it in a derogatory way, probably first directed to bicycles and taxi's

    I think they look Killer..I might Paint The Mounting Piece ( It doesn't look like it's Chrome ) the same Color as The car...It would look unique..which is good..and have an appearance that it's floating/unmounted..
    Just my 2 cents..

    car related definition;
    Gook = Car kitsch. Junk. Poor taste, cheap, unnecessary add-on accessories.

    Viet Nam war/police-action era definition;
    Gook = derogatory name GI's used to call Viet Cong. Not in any way related to the car use definition.
