  2. Looks like 1932 to me but I'm going by memory. When I get into the shop in the AM I can look at an original and double check.

I agree with you Larry....something is odd about the back of that wheel. It does look like a '32 from the front though.

I didn't think '32 wheels had those two thread holes outside of the column shaft hole though?

  4. Looks wierd with some of the material missing on the back of the wheel. I am running an original wheel in mine. Here are some photos before and after.

I think it's a Chevy wheel. They look similar to a Ford, but have a smaller taper. Have you tried it on a Ford shaft?

I think it is something else also. The back of a 32 wheel is concave and tha subject wheel is convex.

Scheller-Globe made most of Ford's production wheels but most have no makers name on them. I have seen at least one 30s Ford with a recessed rectangle with "Scheller" block lettering impressed under a spoke or in the hub .Note the "real" 32 wheel shown above has a riveted center section.

The whatisit wheel is likely a Chevy wheel which runs for many years in the 30s.

  8. Your photos are hard to see the detail. Compare your Wheel with the photos I posted.

That looks like a mid 30's chevy wheel.

I also think it's a chevy. I have a Ford and a Chevy wheel right now and they look very similar as far as the embossed areas on the spokes and around the hubs. And the Chevy wheel has an extended hub on the backside like in the photos. The location of the keyway on the steering wheel in the photos is 180 degrees opposite the location on a Ford wheel. That would put a spoke directly in the driver's line of sight since Ford steering shafts have the keyways machined at six o'clock.

    Hush up you...:p :) ...ok, I'm red-faced...this is not a 1932 Ford wheel.

I just rememberd a half destroyed 1932 Ford steering column/box and wheel I had stashed away in the shop, and found it and compared the two...not even close on the shaft diameter...this wheel won't fit over the '32 column shaft. Neal, you are correct...and Thank You to the rest of you for your help...I am now publically embarrassed....I will resign my commission immediately.

    for shame...

Looks like I just made this mistake myself today.. I bought a Chevy wheel, thinking it was a 32 ford. Key way location, size and design makes it clear to see now... wish I read this before I bought it! 20200602_160009.jpg 20200602_160027.jpg
