anything is possible, if you put your mind to it.
I plan to build one, and use a store bought hub adapter to mount to the column

well thanks you guys... I put this up because I went to the USS Intrepid today and saw these door handles the size of a steering wheel and was wondering if it could be built.

Seeing the creativity these days, I am sure we will see more home made wheels.

When two steering wheels love each other very much....

I don't know why, just couldn't resist.

You're in the right place to find people who know how to make just about anything.

A good friend and former neighbor of mine made a banjo steering wheel from scratch. It's beautiful. I'll see if I can get a photo of it from him and post it.

All steering wheels were made by someone, that means you can build one, too.

I call this my grunt wheel. It was the first I ever made. I could do much better the second time but it was easy and looks good (to me anyway.) It is in my Sr Dragster

Anything that scares Southpark has to have something just wrong with it.

I'm all for creating your own wheel and have seen some one here that are really works of art. But one still has to take his/her and others safety into consideration when building anything.

You guys crack me up.
Obviously it’s welded on the back side.

24. The only thing scary about that picture are the pedals with nasty big pointy teeth. I think I just soiled myself...

A little bit of time and a whole lot of effort and anything is possible.
I put this one together from some scrap aluminuim and some native hardwood.

This was fairly simple to make.. I got it set up and tacked (mig) where i wanted it, then had a local shop tig the rest. Flathead connecting Rods, and center from a 48-52 F-1 steering wheel. The outer ring is from a boat steering wheel, it's stainless steel. The extra holes around the hoop were tig welded with a stainless rod.

It is possible. I made this out of a bar stool hoop. It is attached to the original spokes of my 28 chevy wheel, and column. still not finished yet but it will get there...John

Milner, yes your wheel is the one I was thinking of. When I saw your name I said that's it then I saw you had the wheel pictured. I can't believe I forgot your hamb name especially the milner part. Sorry, but I do like that wheel alot.

Also the bar stool one I was thinking of is Ghost's that is pictured above.
