   Just like the title says...is a stock 3 speed from a 49 chevy the same as a 57 3 speed?

   From what I understand, the internal parts are mostley inter-changable, but the the '49 case is for a torque-tube and the '57 is open driveshaft.
   
   Bellhousing bolt pattern is not even close...........
