Well, I figure I've lurked around enough to finally introduce myself. My names Johnny, Im 25 and been into old iron for as long as I can remember. This messageboard has been a god send, I'm so bored of the mainstream rodding magazines. I thought I knew a bit about old cars and hot rods but I seem to learn something new from the HAMB about every night. I also thought you guys could help me track down some info on my 32' cabriolet. I'm sure it made the rounds in california before I bought it so somebodys got to know something about this car. All I have been told about it was it had been put in a barn in 57'. You might also recognize it from being on ebay about six months ago. I'm not proud to have bought my first hot rod off of ebay but knowing myself I would have collected tons of parts that would have sat in my garage for twenty years and I'd have to scare off kids trying to make offers on it rambling how I'm gonna fix it up "one of these days." I have slowly been repairing all the things that go wrong with a car thats been sitting in a barn for 50 odd years.

The last pic I included was that of my high school/college ride a 62' Fleetwood-its now sitting in my garage under an 1/8 of dust.

I'm also going to include the link from the dealership I bought the 32' from in case it will help with its identification.

I'd like to thanks few folks, uhh..Rolf for letting me tag along with the Swindlers on their Poker Run and turning me on to the HAMB and to JoeCollectible for his thread on posting pictures..that ones a life saver!!

Anyway I hope I can add to the message board with what little knowledge I have! Thanks, Johnny

That car has been shown on the HAMB a time or two.
What does it matter if you built the car or not, half the guy`s on here only dream of having a rod that cool!!

You did a good intro, not too cocky, a little humble even. Dig out that Caddy, it dosent want to be left out!

Welcome, stick around and learn something-Tony

    Yeah what ^^^^^^^^ said!

    Welcome, cool car!

  6. Welcome. Yeah, your car has lots of history. I don't think it was parked since 57 or whatever, I've seen that ride around for a few years.

At Lee's Auto Parts in Alameda, they sell a T-Shirt with your car featured on it. It's your ride, but I wouldn't touch that paint job, especially the deck lid. My Dad use to drag his (well, my grandfather's when he wasn't looking) 49 Shoebox at the Half Moon Bay Dragstrip.

Johnny, Welcome to the HAMB! The very first Hot Rod I ever saw was a '32 Ford Cabrolet, channeled with a HEMI in it in Westport, Ct. back in 1961. Buying a drivable rod as your first is one of the smartest moves you can ever make. Having one with history is even better. [IMG]

  8. Welcome Johnny! Met you on the Swindler's Poker Run. I was driving the 29rpu. You gotta great ride there! Dale

I dig the lettering on the decklid - you can't get much more nostalgic than half moon bay. Nice caddy too - my dad has a light green version of the same car.

  24. Welcome to the HAMB Johnny. I wasn't at the Swindler's Rod Run 'cause I've been stuck in Florida since August. I don't know anything about your car, but it is nice....

  25. Johnny, Welcome. That is one cool hotrod. Don't apologize, just be happy you've got a survivor, and enjoy it. Most guys only dream to own what you're driving. I met you on the Swindler's poker run. I was driving the black 31 coupe w/green wires. Keith

  27. Hey Johnny from one new guy to another welcome. I met you too on "The World Famous Swindlers" poker run. I was driving the Rudy Brown 28 Ford Roadster. I have seen that rodaster the last few years at Bakersfield Ca, at the CHRR. Very cool to have it up here in Wa, now.

  28. Fish? Is that you? What took you so long? Now show the class your bitchen' roadster please. You have to share-Dale
