Hey guys! I have a 1960 Ford f100. Its in pretty good shape, except the interior is about 4 different colors.. My first question is does anybody know if the knobs ( headlight, air vents, heater ect.) just pull right off? Ive been messin with them for a while, and I know LMC sells them but they dont seen to come off. Another question is what would be the best way to sand, and respray the doors, and dash? Do I need primer? I pretty much just wanna make it the same color. Thanks for the help!!
Have you checked out the Ford Truck Enthusiast site? Here the short cut http://www.ford-trucks.com/ I should add that in 51 every switch came apart in a different manner.
depends what type of paint you want to paint the dash and doors with and what condition the paint is under it. if its all ok and you're planning on going acrylic just do a light sand (so no gloss is left - colour is dulled) with between 240 - 600 grit wet and dry sand paper and spray over if orig paint is intact and theres no rust or problems with it. if you're spraying at home use acrylic if you dont have full respo gear etc etc. less harmful to your lungs, and easier to use and fix up.
