I've been trying to figure out what to do to for tail lights for my Daughter's 53 Sub-urban project and came up with this but I'm on the fence what does the H.A.M.B. nation think of this? Here is the build thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293022
I voted once for you. I think you have to just keep clicking real fast. Looks like a cross between a volks wagon and a Volvo.
After I looked at the rear shot I liked it better than the side shot. It really isn't horrible on there. Don
I am guessing those are VW Type 3 taillights/quarters......looks okay....... Many years ago (1961) I had a '53 Plymouth Convertible. I used '55 Plymouth taillights, made my own fender extensions at the time, but it all turned out pretty nice and was all Mopar. Ray
Once the paint is done and the bumper and trim are back on I think it will look really good. They are proportional to the car. Kudos for not going '57 Packard or '59 Caddy!
Yeah, I mocked it up in the shop and thought it looked good from the back, but in profile I'm not so sure. I'm thinking the flat lenses might help. I do like the way it stretches the back of the quarter panel a little to get rid of the stubby look, and from the back the taller light compared to the stocker looks much better IMHO. As of know it is only taped on and has been a 25.00 investment.
Yup... I tired them because the profile of the housing matches the body line on the back of the quarter very closely.
Volkswagen square back lights, right? I'm not into the late model stuff and could ID them, so you best keep looking. Bob
Do you have that sawzall with the dull blade? Seriously I think you could make a better choice and now would be the best time.
Not my style, without reading any posts I thought whoa, square back. Extensions not bad try another shape/style light, and keep at it. Good work though
Keep the lights & get rid of the car? Who really cares if they're from VW?? your just thinking out side the box!(or squareback) it's the rules of the game we play! went back & looked harder they need to be brought up--not so droopy.
