YES! I totally agree and I would drive it daily

  3. Funny, we have a going joke about that here at the office.

  4. Which itself was a copy of the Chuck Price Roadster, the cover car of the very first issue of Rods & Customs.

I don't know if I could really "clone" any car unless it no longer existed. I would get tired of saying "No, it's not the actual (fill in name here) car".

But there are plenty I could do tributes to - the Nitti car, Niekamp's, Doane Spencer, Mooneyham & Sharp, Cadzilla, Hirohata, Phil Cool's, Gary Kessler's, Isky roadster - the list goes on.

For me, it'd be a street going version of Gray Baskerville's Rice Bowl III Model A Altered.

All great choices! Each has that mark of individuality unlike so many '32 hiboys of today. I was really interested to see what cars would come up on the thread. From what I've seen on the HAMB, you guys and gals are building cars with lots of good ol' individuality. Keep it up! Maybe 30 years from now they'll want to clone your car!

Dickie Flippin's '32 Chevy or the Barney Navarro Roadster. I could probably come up with fifty of them really.

you must mean the dick patterson coupe:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58956

i want to build a y-block just like the one in his coupe. I would have a hard time cloning anything though, there would be something I would want to change or make my own....though a clone of roths outlaw would be pretty damn cool to have though Moriarty beat me to it.

Am I the only one not into clones?
While I really dig many of the cars posted, I'd just have to make some changes of my own, if building a car CLOSE, ya know? So it would be MY car, not a clone of someone elses.....

    41 willys in hot rod
55 chevy in 2 lane black top
    project x (pro street era)
    winged express

  18. By the way, speaking of the Veda Orr roadster, what ever happened to Veda Orr? I like her roadster too as in the above photo but never could find much of any info on her personally.

  19. Note to copshopcoupe ... Chuck, keep "Prufer's '34" away from KATFISH! :D

Note to self ... keep the coupe away from 49ratfink! :D

  20. If we're strictly talking Hot Rods built in the 40's or 50's, then I'll have to agree with pasadenahotrod & Slide ... except I would re-create it as close to Lynn's original as possible:
"The Inspiration" for the HEMI32 coupe ... Lynn Yakel's chopped & channeled "brilliant maroon" 5-window ... as
featured on pages 72 & 73 of the 1951 Hot Rods TREND BOOK NO. 102.

If we expanded the premise of this thread to include Hot Rods or Drag Cars built in the 60's, then I'd like to clone the Joe Davis ~ Wes Ingram (& Jim Walraven) Jewel "T" AA / Altered:

  21. SinisterCustom ... I'm with you ... except for when the original car is nowhere to be found (as is the case with Yakel's 5wd & the Jewel "T") ... a clone of the vehicle is the best one can do to try to "bring back" and honor that lost piece of hot rodding history.

Yeah....if the original car is long lost (never to be found), I can appreciate someone going through the trouble of cloning it, alot of work/research in doing that. But it better be ACCURATE.

Mooneyham-Sharp '34 or the Winged Express. Those two cars mean more to me and prolly any other racecars. I already have a headstart on the Mooneyham coupe...

'Course, if I had that kind of jack, I'd prolly just ask Cole to build me what ever he wanted to. The best results are to let an artist have 100% freedom. I'll bet I wouldn't be disappointed.

A bud of mine built one out of a T and drove it on the street. 2 tunnelrammed 454s crank to crank with a 4 speed. Short lived cause it was WAY too wild for street use
