Interesting car. I like a lot of it.
What are the blisters on the hood sides for?

Grille shell looks like a narrowed 36 Studebaker.
Blisters must be for "wish it was and ARDUN".

Extremely informative post.................like so many others. Not to mention the "and" where "a" should be. Suppose we should just be grateful for the insight.

    Frank,
Just to be an asshole i'm going to correct you and say there should have been an "AN" where he put the "AND". Had to do it! ha ha.

That narrow LaSalle grill should answer that.

Are there any pics on how they shoe-horned the radiator and fan behind that LaSalle grill?

Thanks Rem, I knew I could get some help from the boys across the pond.

I love that coupe... I think it was the first 34 Coupe I ever saw with a LaSalle grille... I thought about putting a LaSalle grille on my own 34 Pickup <-- but that would have been with fenders, this is quite another concept!

I'd have to look close to be sure, but I think that grill insert is off a '37 LaSalle. I have one hanging on a nail in my shop. (Shameless commercial plug) I'd probably sell it if somebody has a project for it. Sold my LaSalles, it's a leftover.

I think the '37 axle is one I mailed over to Blimey. He said it was going in a '34 coupe, and less than a year later, this car shows up.

Pretty good assumption, I doubt a whole lot of 34 coupe's are being built in Europe

Supposedly, the grill is a 38 LaSalle.

Here ya go - no interior ones, I'm afraid. Lots of nice details on this, like the flipped rear chassis rails that tuck up along the body line.

I'm personally not a fan of the wheels, and would have painted it shiny, but I wasn't footing the bill!

Not many, but if you include '33s as well, there are one or two popping up here and there. This one's Hemi-powered, and there's a Hemi '34 5-W and Flathead '33 that I know of under construction.

I agree Rem, I am not a big fan of the wheels ( I would have went with some artilleries or Divco's). Not that crazy about the Winters either, but I love that LaSalle grill. You boys across the pond build some pretty nice cars.

There's some real good closeup pics of the 53 on Surf Monkey's Goodwood thread from &-04-09, including interior shots.
