So I think I scored on new years eve, I saw these heads at a friends shop a few weeks ago, he said a widow dropped them off looking to sell them. I thought what the heck they would look cool hanging on the garage wall if nothing else so I offered all I had in my pockets, a mere $40.00. New Years Eve my friend called to say the widow took my offer. Although I dont own a flathead and dont know if I ever will, I left with a big smile. There are a few damaged fins and a couple of the chambers have remains of a broken piston or valve.
Nice score! Is the damage bad enough that they can't be used? $40 is ultra cheap!!Time to find a 24 stud flatty to put 'em on.
You didn't finish your beer! Too bad you got stuck with those old heads, i'm feeling charitable and will give you the whole $40 for them.
Ooo, very cool. They will make for nice decor in the garage, and if you do ever end up with a flathead-powered car, you'll be ready to go.
gettin head for $40....on new years to boot!!! I gotta move to Florida. OH WAIT....how old was the widow? Was the widow a woman? This could be a wierd deal right here!!!
so here are pictures of the chamber sides. MarkzRodz, wanted to know if i'm a investor - yep i am now mctim64, offered to double my money - no thanks Straightpipes, wants me to hang them on the living room - I already have a grill for my 55 f-100 hanging above the window. it was put there by my son and I as a joke to my wife. It backfired she actually likes it, so now I need to buy another grill to finish my truck. cutlass66dude, wanted to know if the damage is repairable - I worked in a automotive machine shop for years in my 20's, ive seen much worse damage get repaired, but i'm hanging them on the wall for now so i'm good. TomP64 noticed I didnt finish my beer, waste not want not ... I used it to brush my teeth this morning. pwschuh wanted pictures of the other side - here they are. Scott F. wanted to know what they are worth - as the buyer 40 bucks, as a seller I dont know.
