  7. My art effort this week, is the wooden V block, I built to hold these two Holden six cylinder heads, making a V12, for my 29 Cadillac lawn art. IMG_20170505_213258.jpg
Induction, exhaust yet to be built.

  8. Ok here it goes I wasn't sure if this was HAMB friendly for a thread, but it's definitely art in my mind so I figured I post it here. This is the bed of my 56 dodge pickup that I had air brushed. All the bed sides and both sides of the tailgate area are all paint. Enjoy!

    Hello,

In 1988, the Clodbuster, big wheel, 4x4 solid, plastic body made customizing and painting a different ballgame. Since it was solid plastic, care had to be taken to prep it like a real car surface. Then, it was sanding and laying down some pinstriped scallops ala a 50’s design. I went back to drawing this big Clodbuster R/C truck first and decided that a bright color paint and water drop flames would look cool.

But, after several failed spray jobs and layering, I removed all paint and finished the whole body in a “satin” finish. Using super fine sand paper, I accidentally created a satin finish because I did not want to give it a clear coat over the pinstriping. This time, the surface pinstriping was using a striping brush first, then a fine tipped, paint pen for the final touches. Wow, real car painting techniques on a miniature car. I was in the custom car building business, but with little cars !

This big vehicle was not very fast, regardless of which modified motor I installed. It was just for crawling over things, (due to the final drive gearing,) like other smaller R/C cars. It was a big plastic shell sitting on a solid plastic frame, plastic shocks, weak springs…not good for anything except for rock crawling/car crushing. But, the drawing was fun making something out of any common sense proportions.

The real life mini-monster truck with 1988 “satin” finish paint surface. Similar to the 2017 BMW, high dollar, “Frozen” paint schemes that look like primer paint. Gee, in 1960, who would have known that primer paint was the "thing" of the future, 57 years later. If we had buffed that primer paint back then, it would have been frozen in time...at much less cost than it is, today.

The Clod: "What's it good for? Absolutely nothing..." An exercise in excess. But, the neighborhood kid that got this set up from me, for free, was a happy camper. Pay it Forward as the movie says...

Jimmy, those deuces look great. Such clean rendering!
Ron, that T motorhome is the weirdest thing, very interesting!
I don't have much this week, but here's a doodle of a potential model car project using a bunch of spare parts...

thank god for art and our amazing artist crew, viva cinco de mayo!!

  29. I’m really liking this. The rendering style reminds me of Steve Brown’s (Spoggie) The design would be great for a model but even more so as an actual, real world, build. I LOVE everything about it, The roof, the fenders, pipes, stance, wheels, narrowed Edsel/shell and those injectors are the icing on the cake!

Ever so slightly reminds me of my Kosmic Gypsy
