Technical Question; has anyone used a hydraulic clutch on a ford four cylinder banger? do they have enough stroke on the slave cylinder, wanting to use a hanging clutch pedal and push type slave due to very tight cockpit on a speedster, any suggestions or comments welcome and needed thanks Bob

You need to measure the distance between the face of your transmission and the fingers of your clutch when its bolted in place. If there is room to put one of the slave cylinders that fits around your input shaft inside the bellhousing, you will gain room by not having linkage/slave cyl on the outside of the housing. Getting the correct travel is a matter of using a master cylinder with the correct size piston in it.

the bigger the master cylinder piston diameter, the more fluid it displaces per inch of travel. But it takes more force on the clutch pedal to push it. you might call speedway motors in Lincoln, nebraska. they have very good tech help.

Two ways... Slave cylinder on the arm or a hydraulic throw out bearing if you have less room. We have used a Ram and Howe without any glitches. Other brands..... Not so much luck.

See if there is still a copy of Chevy High Performance Magazine on any of your local news stands. Good article on hydraulic clutches. View attachment 4577869

  6. The cnc pull type will have 1.125" of stroke with the spring removed from the inside. It has 1 inch with the spring left inside. I believe the cnc push type has the same stroke.
