Hot Rods How to Safely Jack a Vehicle Past Max Height of Floor Jack?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by bulletpruf, Nov 20, 2023.

  1. OK, dumb question, but.... If the transmission isn't full of fluid, couldn't you just put a block under the back of the pan and tilt the nose of the bell housing down? Slide it under, then remove the block to bring it back level.

The trans wasn't full of fluid, but I did install the torque converter prior to sliding it under, and it had 1.5 quarts in it, so I wasn't able to tilt it that much.

    Thanks

I see the job is done now, but wanted to add that a small rig of angle iron bolted on place of the bumper lets you use the engine hoist to pick the car up. You can stand it on it's tail with that.

It's common practice when removing/installing a loaded Mopar k-frame from the bottom.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to try that at some point.
