My thread got pulled for o/t wheels ( oh no ) anyways 64 merc Montclair convertible ( same as a galaxie) Areostar front springs 3” blocks in the rear what shocks or how do I measure for shocks correctly ? Would the stock height still be ok?
Either measure what you have at static height or if you know how much you lowered it then use that as a starting point. The catalogs will give you eye configuration, eye measurement, collapsed and extended measurements. Look up the stock shock measurements and find one the correct size or with the static measurement try to find one in the middle of the 2 measurements. That always worked for me.
Yes I deleted your other thread. You surely know better than that... If your lower rear shock mount is on the U bolt plate then the rear shocks are still in the factory location. (you lowered it by moving the rear axle up) the shocks are not affected. Kinda the same deal in the front. If you are not lowering beyond the factory A arm travel (dictated by the rebound snubber) then the shocks at factory length should be ok
I know mark, I know. But the wheels where like 10% of the picture, didn’t think anyone would notice ! Lol
you know that with those wheels your car is now off topic in pics here..... you may want to think about that
The pic is not in this thread. The wheels have nothing to do with the question I’m asking. My old post got pulled due to o/t wheels and I’m fine with that. No pics on this new thread, so no reason to pull it. Absolutely zero . So why “zap” this thread? I’m asking a simple question about shocks. I got my answer. If ya ain’t t posting something funny or pertinent to the question I asked then don’t post at all. Nothing I stated or posted requires this thread to be “zapped” Unreal......
I agree fully with what Mark has to say about the shocks, get some proper wheels an it and lets see some pictures. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I want coke bottle Americans Or cragars in a nice offset in 15” but these showed up for free with brand new Michelin rubber. Thus frees up money for Brakes Suspension Steering Engine and tranny Interior And top work Once all this is done These new Michelin’s will be worn out and I’ll have money in the budget to buy the wheels I want. All the used cragars I found are unilug and I’m not a fan of unilug. the car came with keystone unilug with 20 year old tires And two of the wheels had the centre’s busted on them .... soooooo trash Big wheels with new tires are safe Albeit stupid looking and not really my thing. But free is my thing Lol!
We need one of those deals like they use on some websites to blur parts of naked pics. Blur the offending part so we can see the rest of the pic. Just kidding, but it might be a good idea for those slip ups that get posted every once in a while. I know that some folks would abuse it though and still post OT stuff.
