When I had these punched, the guy told me $3 bucks per hole, but 126 holes later, he charged me $96. That's 1.31 per.

  3. Up here in the frozen north, there's an old lumberjack that does them for twenty five cents each. He uses a double bladed axe and I'm not so sure they look very good.

  10. I charge $1.50 per on clean metal. If I have to strip it we work out a side deal on that. On old paint sometimes guys just want holes. I might live long enough to pay for the machine but then again I like louvers, so it doesn't matter much.

We charge $2.00 a hole. If there are some layouts that require additional work, we go $3.00. Material must be bare on both sides.

Our policy is to not allow the owner to watch the operation. Once they figure out that we can punch 90 louvers an hour @ 2.00 per louver, all hell breaks loose!

here at BuglytoolS we have a spring special $1. a punch, been running it for two years now. getting rich? NO / having fun ? YES. we require the sheetmetal be stripped on both sides, it gums up the dies if not stripped. we can punch through an old patima but it's probably extra. gipsey

Our louver guy here, John Olay in Flint has been charging $1 a punch for years. He usually gives you a break if there are a lot to do . He charged me $150 for 186 louvers on my '32 decklid. The louvers are laser straight in both directions and when Brookville assembled the lid after John punched it they said it wasn't distorted at all. I bought the lid from them and had John louver it before they assembled it with the inner linner.

  21. Beetle, I think you would do ok if you charged $1.50 a punch if the metal was clean on both sides. Seems like a fair price. Now that could be upped a little if it was a difficult piece. My 2 cents.

I'm at 2.00 per hole, stripped both sides, with no setup fees. I have been at that rate for about four years now. That's actually a pretty good deal, because I spend allot more time on set up than I do punching.

$2.50-$3.00 per depending on the hood, wether it's stripped, how many holes. And it still comes in less than the shop rate time wise. It's not a fast process. I discount more if you're getting a bunch of punches.
