Folks Of Interest How long have you owned a car ? ? ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mr Haney, Sep 30, 2010.

  1. 19 years is the longest for me so far...most have been more like 3 or less...

  2. I bought the body in 1996, got it running and driving in 2008... It'll be 15 years in February.

21 years with this one. It was completed mechanically and externally in 1997; the interior was done in 1998. It has about 40,000 road miles on it since it was completed:

  19. 56 years in the family (my father started building the Coupe in 1954) ... My name has been on the title for 17+ years (since my 32nd birthday in 1993) ... plan to give it to my son on his 32nd birthday (in 2032).

Pics of our HEMI-powered '32 5wd Coupe (from 1954 through the present) can be viewed in my "HEMI32" album:

Bought a 33 ford 3 window in 1962 and sold it in 2009---Now own a 1948 International KB1 that I've had for 23 years. The International was bought new by my grand father and was willed to me when he past away. Been driving it ever since completely stock and runs like a clock. I got it in 1981

Similar story to Hemi 32 above....

32 Roadster has been in our family since my late Grandfather purchased it in October of 1953.

(Photo on left taken shortly after purchase in Oct of 1953. Note Diego Axle. Photo on right is of my Aunt and a friend. My Aunt is now a retired elementary school teacher.)

It was passed to my father in 1973 and then to me in 1992.

Time capsules that you can drive and enjoy. props to you guys handing cars down from gen to gen.

My freind Guy has a 32 5-window gift from his Dad. They are working on it together right now. Father has owned the car since 1956 / taken off the road in 1978 after the motor broke, Kids born, job got busy.

Guy and his Dad are working on getting the car back up and rolling right now. They are both on the same page as far as, keeping it period. I will post some pics up on this thread....Promise !
