Technical How do you remove epoxy paint?

I have a nice Hollywood tag light. It has some thin primer paint on it that lacquer thinner will not remove. I assume that it is epoxy. What can I use to get the paint off? THANKS

 

Soda blasting. Removes paint but wont touch metal.

There is a stripper that is sold in large drums that will remove it but I've never found smaller amounts of it for sale. That product is toxic in fumes but is water soluble for cleanup. It's made by ZEP.

 

Probably sun baked enamel. Try soaking it in thinner for a couple days

 

Just get a quart of paint stripper and carefully apply it to the paint you want to remove.

 

Some good old conventional brake fluid might be worth a try.

 

For really tough paint I use Jasco Aircraft grade stripper. It can be found at Home Depot or Lowes, plus other hardware stores. Pretty hot so wear gloves!

 

Elbow grease...

It works wonders !

 

Try spray gun cleaner. It usually lifts just about any type of paint.
