If anyone has a nice old set of Total Performance chrome bucket headers for a big block, I'm interested. Total is gone, the 3 remaining ones are Patriot, Southwest Speed, and Speedway. They all have modern crappy EPA chrome, and angle the engine. the old TP has the muffler parallel to the ports, which I gotta have. Sanderson says their's are not available.

    I like them.
Short compact frame, level body, good seating position (inside the car).
Vertical steering columns, raked / tilted bodies, or stretched chassis with large gaps make me walk right by.

Spirit Ind. is 200 miles from you in Flippen, AR. Their extended body '23 with floor, interior insert, working doors with latches, 3"channel, battery box and pickup box installed for $2700 seems like a good deal to me. All that work already done.

The proportions on this one are great, I wish more people these days would build cars like this one

Harry Markeicki’s T called the Trojan, it was the second place Isca points champion in 1961. It will be going across the block at the Mecum sale in Indy this week

I pulled off one of my lug nuts this morning to double check it. The aftermarket lug nuts I’m using are much thicker than the stock ones, so it gives the illusion that the studs are too short. It has 2/3 of an inch of thread engagement. That is plenty.

Does the 27 fit into the category of T bucket? I like the track nose style, hood or no hood. I like the a extra length of the cabin, and you can get them extended a bit, too. I have slobbered over the Speedway 27 track roadster kit many times, but theirs is set up for a small V6, and we all know a hot rod has to have a V8! Doubt I'll ever build one unless I run up on a partly finished one somewhere at a bargain.

Wow...I’d move the engine & grill shell back some, but this T is perfect!

  16. That's it. That's the place. Thanks 2FAST. It got to bugging me after I wrote it. If I remember correctly, they also made dropped tube axles with pretty much any drop you wanted... Thanks again for the memory jog :)

I stopped there on my way home from Canada in '98 or '99 to see what they had ( curiosity) they were in a real bad neighborhood & hadn't printed a new catalog for 20 years , but they had some really great deals !

I saw this one at a local poker run a few years ago, and was so smitten by it I took all these photos, probably the most of any one car at the run; and there were some nice cars there (like that deuce roadster right next to it), but this one just hit all the buttons for me. 20. It ran in most of the 1967 Car Craft magazine issues. It was nearly a bible for me at the time as I was building an A/SR then. I used the wiring diagram almost as they presented it. I still probably have several month of it if I were to look hard.

With a generalized interpretation of “bucket” let’s keep this “T” thread going!

OK then, here's another one. I shot this one at the Walden's Speed Shop open house last year. I don't understand why the ass end is jacked up so high, but I assume it was a style at one time.

I guess my taste for T Bucket type cars falls more along the modified lake style where you sit low in the car with the top of your shoulder even or slightly above the edge of the body. A Bone’s car is about perfect. It’s a hard look to achieve because most of the fiberglass T Bucket bodies are so short there’s little room for your legs other then sitting upright with your waist almost even with the top of car body. I like the Zipper bodies but no way one of those can be built inexpensive. Also like the convenience of actual doors. Was a time T Buckets were every where don’t see them as much nowadays.

First, I'll say that I've never owned a T of any style but because the mid 60's was basically when the bucket T's were at their peak and my hot rod "coming of age" happened during this same period I have always had an attraction to them.
I'm sure it's like anything else when it comes to individuals and their particular application of terms relating to certain categories of cars but to me "T bucket" usually conjures up one mental picture and without fail that includes it having the abreviated pickup bed.
Over the years I have had a half dozen friends or acquaintances build them and I had some small involvement in most of them and except for one they all were the typical style.
The one that was different had the turtle deck with a track roadster nose and I recall the owner making a point to correct people any time they called it a bucket T.
I think if I was to build one today it would be along the lines of Seth Hammonds' car with both a turtle deck and a chromed T grille shell.
Note the RHD, the one thing I could never get used to would be shifting a four speed with my left hand and we all know real hot rods have three pedals right @Marty Strode

And let's not forget this one.

    Edit:
I forgot Seth had an automatic in his roadster, only he gets a pass on this one.
