That's good news Brenda, thx for coming on HAMB to fill us in on the operation, and the same to you, seadog.
Hopefully we'll have the old Danny back with us here on HAMB soon.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear the surgery went well. I thinking last night that waiting for Danny to come back with his own comments is like waiting for the Apollo astronauts of old to come back on line after orbiting around the dark side of the moon......

none of this for at least a week.

  4. Brenda,
I thought of Danny when I was at PT yesterday evening. Thanks for the update.

its hard when you realize that you are on the injured list for a prolonged period. If you catch him screwing up, by that I mean not following orders, tell him this for me, DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE.

You are both in my thoughts, I know its difficult but you are both tough, you'll make it just fine. ;)

Let me know if there is anything at all that I can do.

Compared to that, building cars is about the same as sitting on the couch watching TV.

Sent using the incredibly new and improved H.A.M.B. mobile app.

Glad that the procedure went well. If you need a couple of us to come down and help you keep ol' Hardhead in line, let us know. But I think that somehow you're the boss. HA!

ladyhrp - we all know what your hubby is going through, Thanks to you. but, be sure to take care of yourself too. yes, this will all just take time, amount unknown. just let him know that his Family here is behind him 100%. of course, if you can share a picture of the x-rays that would be great. you know that most here like to throw their own 2 cents in on how they would do a rebuild & parts replacement.

  11. Thanks for the update, Miss Brenda! Tell him B4C said to follow EVERY doctor's/therapist's instruction....nothing more, nothing less! My dad just had his knee replaced. He said he was determined to better the doctor's forecast...just his nature. I feel certain that dad and Danny are cut from the same cloth!

Praying for you more than him...I know Danny! ;)

    Danny & ladyhrp:

Wishing you a great recovery & some great road trips ahead !

NOW HERE'S SOME IMPORTANT INFO I'LL SHARE WIH YOU: On Tues., Oct. 21, 2008, I had an extremely bad fall myself. Broke my right shoulder/collar bone just as you did, my friend ! (Also, broke my jaw & 2 ribs at the same time when I hit the ground...but won't go into that.)

My Dr. Katherine Burns, here in St. Louis, was a Saint ! Did pretty much what your great Doc did: just about used "Medical Bondo" to piece it all back together, then clamped it with a cast/plate & 12 screws to finish it off. (She told me my shoulder, probably like yours, didn't just "break"...it exploded !)

Now, here's the good news: I'll never pitch for the Cardinals, but I can still use my right arm everyday for whatever else I want !!

You WILL get better, my friend ! BUT, don't hurry it !! It took me a good 3 months for starters, so just take your time so that entire area fully mends, heals, and, your body gets over from the extreme trauma that it's had from not only the fall, but the operation, hospital stay, and all of the other pressures you're going through.

I'm always a glutton for punishment so I never took any meds, BUT if you need 'em to sleep, keep pain away, etc., you go ahead and use 'em as the Doc prescribes...just do whatever helps you, Danny, 'cause you're "one of the good guys"...and we need ya back here , amigo !!

God bless, and my prayers are with BOTH you and ladyhrp,

    Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net

Hoping you will have a quick get back Danny.
When they cut your meds back; at least you can get some of your local bottled medicine.
Saw a story on TV tonight about Palmetto Moonshine, looks like it would be a good transition drug. They have one called Grandpas Apple Pie, yum yum.

Just caught this thread; sorry to hear of your catastrophe, HRP.
But very glad to read that the surgery went well.
As others have said, follow the therapist & Doctor's orders.
Work hard at your therapy, but don't push it beyond what the experts tell you to do.
    You're in my prayers.

Good news! Just take it easy and as hard as it is to do, "listen to the docs" and you'll be back in no time.

Shoulders are a lot trickier than knees and hips... Rehab will take some time. I know that when you're in your 60's you don't feel like you have a lot of that, but take it slow ol' buddy!
