Hot Rod History Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by High Class Rat, Oct 14, 2009.

  1. In the 50's and 60's, did hot rodders turn their headlight bulbs sideways so the lights shined vertical as opposed to horizontal? And if so, when did this begin and why?

If you remember you were there
    then you weren't really "there"....

  7. When I bought my Model A, the headlights were turned sideways in the buckets. Someone told me that they seemed to recall it being done back in the day.

Not a chance. Simply the result of someone installing lights the wrong way because they didn'y know anything about cars.

Were the Model A reflectors and lenses turned sideways OR just the lenses (see above)?

  15. Maybe they were signaling the alien ships.......... Thanks

Most buckets have notches in them that match the headlights tabs. Seems like alot of work to do them wrong...John
