Hot Rods Hot Rod Grille Help ID?

Please help ID this Grille Anybody? It is from the So Cal area. It is approx 30" wide and 21" tall.
Old chrome plate.
Could be a lakes car, custom etc. I have included some similar grilles of pictures that I have found

 

It's from a kit car from the 50s. There's an article on it somewhere here. Just can't recall the name.

The bars are crudely welded on to the grille frame. My guess is either home made or aftermarket.

 

Probably a homemade track nose for a sprint car. HRP
