After HRFO XI we decided to do something different with the artwork by featuring local cars that also corresponded with last digit of the year. For example Keith's (LeadSledMerc) 37 Chevy was featured for year number seven. Keven Carter beautifully executed the flyer design Last year we featured Derrick's (AllStarDerrick) 28 Sedan with killer art work by Keith Weesner This year we called upon the super talented Jeff Norwell to put together HRFO IX's artwork. We did something a little different this year by actually doing two different designs. One featuring our friend Jamie's 59 Ford F100 and the other featuring an old New England hot rod. My friend Jean Durocher is an original member of the CARB'S of Hartford. In the early 60's he bought this 29 Roadster for a fella in Western Mass named Nelson Dueschneu. From what I was told the car was built as a hot rod in California in the mid fifty's. Nelson bought the car and drove it from California to Massachusetts. The car at that point was poorly put together and in fact when ever he hit pot holes the doors would pop open. Once he arrived back in Mass he took the car apart and overhauled everything. Including building the flathead to 220hp. He showed the car for a few years before he sold it to Jean Jean made some changes to car including a more aggressive stance, tires and wheels and adding more chrome componets. The car was shown numerous times across the northeast in various auto shows. He sold the car in the mid 70's to another local fella where it got a make over. The flathead was replaced with a built SBC and the body was more channeled over the frame. The car is owned today by his widow. I've tried to buy it numerous times to no avail Nelson with car known as the "Voodoo" Jean's version of the car now known as "the Gigot" On the way back from Indy 1964, drive shaft repair on the side of the road
Jeff knocked this years art work out of the park. We also did something special this year by printing the flyers on 6" diecut rounds. Additionally the cheater slick on the back of the flyer has some CT hot rod history as it is off the Road Agents former club coupe "the After Burner"
I used to work for Nelson Dueschneu many many years ago at a sandblasting and coating company wonder what ever happened to him?
things are starting to fall into place and chances are looking good for me and the wife to take the Plymouth on a rd trip out to the show. keeping my fingers crossed! jeff

I really wanted to bring the Sachem, Matt. The rain date messed with plans already in place. From the few pics I've seen, you still had a pretty good turn out. Are you coming up for The Gathering next weekend?
Another great show, we had a real good swap meet, but didn't get to see all the cars...maybe next year the car will be done, and the stuff will be cleared out as well. Thanks.
We missed you Mark! Unfortunately I have to work Saturday. I'm bummed I really wanted to make The Gathering. Getting ready for the Fall Out used up the rest of my vacation time.
