Normally you only see this stuff at winter car shows. Indoor affairs with ropes around the car so you don't get too close.

Don't get me wrong, I love winter car shows, and always have a bag of pop-corn to analyze each car to death...:)

As more and more cars get trailered to the NSRA and Goodguy shows, these events will become summer replicas of the winter indoor shows.

Probably the gayest thing I have seen was faux engine covers making a one lung Bajaj motorcycle into a boxer-six like a Gold Wing. It even had the fake exhaust pipes with 3 into 1 pipes on both sides. That was shortly before I left India.

Funniest part was the guy had them held on with white zip ties...

This Nomad was being discussed a while back: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294197 , it
looked like the engine was hidden by "faux-0-9" valve covers:rolleyes:
I seem to recall that during the dark ages (mid 70's to mid 80's) it was
popular to hide a carb inside a fake blower

Yeah I saw that at the blacktop bash too, the best part is electric panel intake on the hollow v6-71 blower.

Faux parts are traditional. About 1958 I was a teenager that knew nothing. I was so impressed with the DeSoto Fire dome V8 in the chopped and channeled Model A coupe. My older cousin took one look and said "that's a fuckin' flathead!". It had me fooled!:D I'm sure it would be scorned if it showed up today from the time machine.:D

Might as well split the evo head and tig a bolt heat on the ends and save the money. :D

Magnetic supercharger clutches are not fake :) But they are rare ;) :D

I get instant limp anytime I see some part posing to be something else. If you really wanted the look, then really get the parts. It's shameful.

I must add that I purchased some faux parts too. BUT with good measure. I will be using it them behind a static display wheel. They are fake Brembo caliper "covers"
