Wayne Carini (F40 Motor Sports, "Chaseing Classic Cars") has the Hirohata Merc at his place, shown here.
Skip the first part till they get to his shop.

Thanks. Saw it there and reported on it a while back.
The evening of the day I saw it, I ran into Wayne at a local event, walked up to him showing a picture on the phone and asked him if he knew where I could find a car like this. Good laugh from that exchange.

I guess we really are in our own kind of niche, the Hirohata Merc was kind of "Glossed Over" as if it had no significance in the automotive world at all... weird...

Thanks for posting. That's a really stupid video. They walked past the Merc like they were in a strip club and decided to head to the bar for free pretzels.

    Dennis Collins
    ABOUT
Description As seen on Fast N' Loud with Richard Rawlings, Dennis Collins is no stranger to the automotive industry or big money deals. With over 3 decades of experience in the Jeep industry and a lifetime of burning rubber in various cars and motorcycles, Dennis has driven and sold it all from classic European sports cars to completely restored off-road Jeeps.

Funny thing is that when some his buddies who are heavy into custom cars see the video they will be quizzing him on the Merc for hours and not asking one question about the Mercedes. Then it may hit him full in the face that he was standing beside the most iconic custom Merc of all time.

I haven't seen the real one that I know of but have taken photos of the clone and I can say that if you weren't heavy into early customs and knew what you were seeing it might look more like a really cool old car to you than an iconic custom worthy of far more than a quick glance.

I never did imagine that the Hirohata Merc would be in the hands of a flipper. The way they were going on about that sport's car I was waiting for a dog to come up and piss on the tire or the Hirohata Merc.

If you lined up the Benz and the merc, and got 100 male teenagers, id bet every last one of them would take the Benz over the merc, lol...

You make it sound like Wayne bought it for cheap and is trying to score big. He's not a flipper, in that sense. He's acting as a broker for the family, using his knowledge of collectible vehicles to hopefully enable the family to reap the most amount of money for the sale. He charges a fee, or possibly even a fee plus commision (unknown), but I certainly wouldn't throw him in the catagory of "flipper".
