Finally done visiting every day. I discovered the HAMB approx 2 yrs ago when I Googled an old friend. I really enjoy the Message Board and Tech Archive, a lot of great stuff. Also makes me laugh. I grew up in dads tool & die shop (put me to work). Hung out with family and boyfriends in their shops and garages, and my best friends dad owned a speed shop, so she always had a Hot Car and I always wanted one! Spent most of my working yrs with a large Aerospace corp, again hanging out in the toolroom and machine shops. Just able & lucky to take an early retirement (had eee-nuff) now its time for my own projects. Got an older Chevy II in mind, but I really havent found a car or truck I dont like!! Im sure Ill be looking for advice and I trust the folks on the HAMB. Anyway thats who/what Im about - Wow blah blah blah - huh? Thanks, Wendy
Welcome to the HAMB from St Augustine. What part of SRQ are you in? I grew up in gulf gate and used to race my old truck out on Bee Ridge Extension, County Line Rd (now university blvd) and down Tamiami Trail in high school back in late 70's early 80's. Wasn't much going on there then, not sure about now.
I live in Centergate, between Proctor & Bee Ridge. Tried out both Bee Ridge extension myself! LOL My son got caught racing out there...
Welcome My dad worked for a large aerospace co. as a tool and die maker up here... you probably know which one.
Gee and I thought Sarasota was a nice place to live .. lol Welcome from SR, I'm from Daytona Beach, well now in VA too
I know Centergate - used to work at Bee Ridge & Centergate drive at surveyors office. I actually did a lot of the original survey layout work for that place back in 1982. mow down the orange grove and put in a subdivision - Albritton had a 52 Ford F2 truck with a 312 T-Bird motor in it lived on the corner of proctor & cattleman, pull out of high school with one tire on fire.
Wasn't much going on there then, not sure about now.[/QUOTE] Sorry dixiedog or I would have replied sooner. I wasn't being rude, I'm still learning how to use the HAMB. (sometimes the blonde comes thru) Hope I did this right and you finally get the reply. Jeez Albritton groves are gone, miss the smell of orange blossoms. Also don't find the wandering cattle in my yard either. They're still here, just blocked in between subdivisions. My house was built in '82 so you may have surveyed my lot between Proctor and Wilkinson. Thanks for the welcome. Albrittons are still wild
