Help Stewart Warner tach.

Found an old tach a buddy has that I'm interested in. Do these require sending units? Are the sending units repoped? What would need to be done to work with a GM HEI?

You'll need one of these. The small gold one is later and important markings are on the opposite side-8 cyl.,4 cycle, 12 volt. If you get a red can, make sure it has the silver "adjustor" cap. All the ones I've seen without it have had batteries inside, corroded of coarse. The adjustor type look to be constructed without them.

You'll have to find one, not making them anymore. Companies like Williamsons Instruments could probably get you going with a retrofit but it may cost more than a used sender would.
