HELP-Making an auto shifter/ column or floor

I remember a tread or 2 about making an auto shifter,
one was about using a older car 'exsposed' column & another someone made a floor shifter,
I want to make one for my F100,I have plenty of time,parts & little money,i really don't car for the ones i can afford (cheap/short)
I've googled,searched all the tech archives/ articles on just about every site i can think of.
Any help? Ideas?

When I decided I wanted a floor shifter in my Comet, C4 auto trans, I just went to the junkyard and found one that seemed it would work. I wound up using the unit out of a '90s Merc Capri. Ditched the cable and dabbed a simple rod to go between it and the bell crank on the transmission.

I chose the mechanism I did because it bolted into the tunnel and seemed pretty solid.
