What are standard Halibrand V-8 style shaft centers? This housing and cover measure 3" on center.

Halibrand V-8 QC uses 3 inch centers, the champ uses 3-1/2....that's some cool stuff you found , any info to go with it?

  5. Saw this in the other thread, that is a very cool piece that would save a TON of fabricating.....right Jethro? ;)

BTTT for the Monday morning crew...

    Does anyone recognize this casting?

    Thanks,

    Neal

  8. It looks like an extension to run speedway gears, not a u-fab as the mounting area is not rounded. This is gonna take a lot of machining.....

I know there is alot of Machine work required. That doesn't scare me.

The mounting area should be flat, because (as I understand) as you flip the Ford banjo housing around backwards and bolt this housing on like this...

That "conversion kit" is NEAT! I'd have done it out of aluminum, but that's just me.

I've never seen anything like it before, so I can't help identify it. It doesn't even look real similar to any known quickies, so I'd think it's not made by any well-known manufacturers.

Maybe it's some ancient high-schooler's class casting project. Finish it off and we'll give you an A+.

Maybe I should look into casting some Aluminum ones off of this one...

Maybe the Hot Rod Works guys or Cyclone Kevin might be able to shed some light on this one

Why would you want one made out of aluminum? You have to weld the thing to a old banjo housing which is cast steel. The back of it does not have to be rounded because you run a tube from it to the housing for the lower shaft.
    Ask me how I know.

How are you going to connect it to the banjo where the lower shaft goes?

The one I linked to looks like it is only bolted on the top, but I would flange the bottom where the lower shaft goes through and drill and tap the housing and bolt in from the back side.

Nealin has talent too. I bet he can pull it off as well. And I'd also like one, Neal.
