Technical Help:1939 Ford Deluxe Steering Wheel Paint Color

    I'm now ready to restore this 1939 Ford steering wheel. Can any of you Ford V8 guys give me any information on getting this paint color. Some one out there must have restored a 39 Ford with this color.

    Thank you X38. It look's like there is gray under this color. Some one did a real nice job of painting this color.
     
  4. Bear in mind, a lot of Ford colours were called 'gray' but don't look like what you would imagine as gray (a mix of just black and white.)

    a nice coarse metallic might be good?

    This is what I did. I converted the original steering wheel to fit an after market GM steering column.. The wheel needed lots of work to restore it. The color matches the wood grain dash & trims. Still looks original. But not.
